Charm is a gorgeous little pony but although teeny tiny she does have a massive personality to make up for it. Charm adores people and is always first over in the field to greet you so would love a home where she receives lots of attention. She is great to catch, lead and is good for the farrier but is not a fan of vets and will protest if she sees one. Charm was very reactive to groom when she first arrived at Belwade Farm and would kick out; her groom has worked very hard on her handling, and she is now a much happier pony to be pampered. Her party trick was also to rear if she didn’t get her own way; this has improved greatly, and she has mastered keeping all four feet on the ground but if she is left tied up too long, she will get bored and revert to her old habit. Although she is incredibly friendly, she wouldn’t be suited to being handled by children and will need a confident handler. Charm has mild sweet itch which is kept under control with a fly rug during the summer months to keep her comfortable. She will happily live out all year round but would need to be rugged and access to a field shelter as a miniature horse she is not as hardy as our native Shetland ponies. Charm is extremely sociable and loves her friends so wouldn’t be happy being left alone. Due to her size and type she is not suited to living with larger horses or ponies, she requires restricted grazing to manage her weight and is used to having smaller ponies for company. If you think this sassy wee mare is the right companion for you, please apply online.

Important stuff

Charm can never be ridden or driven.

All equines in our centres are regularly assessed by a team of experts including a vet, physiotherapist and farrier, and these assessments have found that Charm is not suitable to be worked.

History

Charm came into World Horse Welfare care with one other miniature horse as an owner support case in January 2024. She was very reactive about being groomed on arrival at the farm.
