Promise to supporters 2800 x 1000

Our promise to supporters

You are the lifeblood of our charity. Without your support we could not help the number of horses we do every year.

You are the lifeblood of our charity. Without your support we could not help the number of horses we do every year.

We are proud to have built trusting relationships with you, our valued supporters, for almost a century. Our founder Ada Cole enlisted the help of people from all walks of life to give horses a voice, be that through volunteering, spreading the word, engaging the media, garnering support for legislation or by donating valuable funds.

What your support means to World Horse Welfare

Your donations enable us to prevent and relieve the suffering of horses, so you can be confident that anything you are able to give is invested wisely, having the greatest possible impact for the welfare of horses.

Our promise to you

All of our fundraising activity is governed by the Charity Commission and follows guidance provided by the Fundraising Regulator.

We take pride in fundraising in a caring and responsible way.

  • We value that you have chosen to help protect horses with World Horse Welfare.
  • Your personal data is safe with us. We never sell your details nor do we share them with other organisations for them to contact you about other products or services.
  • Please be assured that we will never give your data to other organisations’ mailing lists. The only correspondence you will ever receive will be from or on behalf of World Horse Welfare.
  • We never make cold calls – either by telephone or knocking on your door.
  • We may call you if you already support us – sometimes to thank you, to talk to you about our work, or to get your feedback on materials, concepts or ideas.
  • We are regularly astounded by the kindness and generosity of supporters like you, but we also believe in being caring and responsible across all of our fundraising which occasionally means turning down donations. From time to time we do have supporters who contact us wishing to give more, and in some cases we may suspect that they may be vulnerable. Whenever we are in doubt, we will get in touch to talk to them about their gift and dissuade them from giving because we feel this is the right thing to do.
  • We do also fundraise by telephone, but this is focused only on our existing supporters and the purpose of the call is to thank supporters, to give them an update on how the gift is helping horses and to give them the opportunity to change the way they give. Many of our supporters appreciate the phone call, but we understand that some supporters do not and that is fine with us. We use a partner agency for this work, and they are under a strict brief to listen carefully to the person on the other end of the phone and not to apply pressure. We monitor their work closely and it’s reviewed by people you may know from our fundraising team. If you feel a call made on our behalf did not meet these standards, we need to hear from you! If you don’t want to receive a call, please do get in touch.
  • Every donation we receive is essential in ensuring we can continue to help prevent the suffering of horses. We ask our supporters if they would like to receive a thank you and be kept updated with how their gift is being spent. We want you to feel valued, because you are.
  • We make sure it’s simple for you to change the way you support us. If you do not want to be contacted by us, or you wish to change the way you support us – or if any of our fundraising is just not working for you – let us know and a member of the World Horse Welfare fundraising team will discuss how we can best communicate with you.
  • For every £1 we invest in fundraising we generate another £3.67 to help prevent the suffering of horses.
  • Any fundraising activity which is managed with partner organisations is closely monitored by our team and in the case of any cause for concern we act swiftly to find a resolution. If you are unhappy with our fundraising at any time, for any reason, please let us know.
  • We want to ensure you feel joy out of giving and making a difference. Our Fundraising team is here to help you do that.

If you have any questions, comments or concerns about our fundraising or would like to change the way you hear from us, please contact our team at +44 (0) 1953 497 239 or fundraising@worldhorsewelfare.org.
