We believe that if horses are to be slaughtered, this should be done humanely under robust regulation and their welfare fully monitored throughout. In order to ensure that horses are protected throughout the slaughter process it is crucial that only horses that are fit to be transported are taken to the slaughter house and that they are eligible for human consumption – horses that are not eligible will not be able to be processed.
