Meet Astro

Handsome man Astro is looking for his new home as a non-ridden companion. When Astro arrived, he was quite shy and wary of his new surroundings. Since then, Astro’s groom has a spent a lot of time bringing on his confidence and bringing him out of his shell and he has now shown us his very fun-loving personality and clever mind. As he can still be nervous at times, especially in new or busy situations, he will be looking for someone with a quiet yard who is happy to strike up a bond with him and allow him to take the time he needs to settle into his new environment. Astro can also be wary of the vet and farrier, but if they take their time with him, he will allow them to treat him. Astro can live out all year round with mares or geldings but will need his weight monitored especially coming into the spring/summer months. He is a good boy to catch once he knows you, but may need some sweeties to catch whilst he is settling in. He is also happy to be stabled, and if introduced to it slowly, could be left alone for short periods of time with food whilst his friend was being ridden. If you think you think Astro sounds like the companion for you, please apply online.

Important stuff

Astro can never be ridden or driven.

All equines in our centres are regularly assessed by a team of experts including a vet, physiotherapist and farrier, and these assessments have found that Astro is not suitable to be worked.

History

Astro came into World Horse Welfare's care in August 2024 as part of a welfare case.
