Potential home found

Meet Runshaw Ffreya

Ffreya is a beautiful wee Welsh A that is ready to find a new home as a non-ridden companion. Ffreya was quite nervous when she first came to Belwade and has grown in confidence ever since. She is good to catch for a sweetie or two and wanders over when called and has a wee chat with you on her way. She loves coming in for a groom and a good chest scratch and behaves well for our vet and farrier. Although Ffreya is a lovely wee pony, she can be a little cautious at times and can have some spooky moments. Due to this, we feel that she would not be suitable around young children. Ffreya does enjoy the company of friends her size, mare or gelding and respects the dominant horses in her field. She will, however, stand her ground if she feels she is being pushed around. She will happily be stabled with a friend and if introduced slowly, her groom feels she could potentially be left alone but only for short periods of time. As she is a typical Welsh pony, Ffreya gains weight easily so will need a home where her grazing can be restricted, especially during the summer months. To aid with weight loss she has been clipped. Ffreya was initially very cautious of the clipper noise but with a pair of quiet clippers, and a slow and calm introduction, her groom said she soon settled and allowed herself to be clipped. If you think you could offer this pretty wee pony a new home, please apply online.

Important stuff

Runshaw Ffreya can never be ridden or driven.

All equines in our centres are regularly assessed by a team of experts including a vet, physiotherapist and farrier, and these assessments have found that Runshaw Ffreya is not suitable to be worked.

History

Ffreya came into World Horse Welfare care in September 2019 as part of a welfare case. She was part of a successful, large prosecution case involving more than 40 ponies in total. She was very worried on arrival but has grown in confidence since.
