What are Equine Stereotypic Behaviours and how should we manage them?

with Dr Sebastian McBride and Dr Andrew Hemmings

Horses should be provided with the 3Fs of friends, forage and freedom in their daily lives. Restriction from one or more of these essential elements can be stressful and could lead to horses developing coping mechanisms which present as stereotypic behaviours. On Wednesday 27th November, we were joined by Dr Sebastian McBride and Dr Andrew Hemmings who discussed the different types of equine stereotypies, potential causes and how to manage horses that display stereotypies in a way that promotes positive welfare.
