We welcomed vet and World Horse Welfare trustee Sarah Coombs and expert researcher Dee Pollard to talk to us about laminitis. Sarah explained to us what laminitis actually is, what causes it and the treatment options available. She clarified what steps we, as owners, need to take should we suspect our horses have laminitis.
Dee then spoke about her research findings, highlighting at which times of year most cases of laminitis occur, the main risk factors associated with laminitic events and, most importantly, what steps we can take to reduce the risk to our horses. Both Sarah and Dee were on hand at the end of the webinar to answer questions or queries from the live audience.
